Bullfighting

Bullfighting is very popular in Spain and Mexico. I recently saw a video about a small boy who was actually a bullfighter. His father had sole custody and the mother didn’t want her son to perform in the ring. They boy looked to be about nine or ten but he was an amazing bullfighter. As his father was from Mexico,  he argued that this was his culture. The judge saw several videos where the boy won every single time. I would be scared but the boy loved dressing like a matador and performing. The judge ruled in the father’s favor. It is not a practise I  care for but each country has their own traditions, specail events, etc.  Much of the southwest has rodeos. West Texas has snake roundups. In Spain, they have one day in which they have the running of the bulls. They literally run through the streets. It is best if people stay out of their way. I have never been able understand how one perrson could stand there while a large bull literally put all of his effort to attack the matador. The thing about bullfighting is that the event draws huge crowds. People love to watch it. A long time ago I saw another video, it was a “Columbo” show,  about bullfighting. It involved an adult and the father had been a matador at one time, but he quit. When one of his competors tried to force him back into the ring again, the matator ended his life.  It took Columbo a bit of time before he finallay figured out that the original matador had lost is courage, could not longer fight and didn’t wish to be humiliated in public. Also, that he was upset that the competor  knew he was now afraid to get back into the ring. Before the competitor could reveal the original man’s secret, he was killed by the original matador. It was a surprizing show. How do you feel about bullfighting? The Good Gus Series is available online at Kindle, Nook and Waterstones.
