Cling to the Truth

It would be nice in this world if people would cling to the truth. Lies seem to be the name of the game.  We try to teach our children to always be honest yet often they find it easier to lie. In many episodes of many TV shows if a child does cling to the truth the parent might actually believe them. They wanted proof then and apparently still do. Trying to find a way to build trust with your children begins with always being honest with them. Although, there are parents whose children simply lie. I am not sure if they like it, enjoy the thrill of putting it over on a parent, or it is just easier. In many of the court TV shows trying to get their clients to be truthful is not always easy. There was an episode on “Boston Legal” where Denny Crane, a/k/a William Shatner shot a person who was trying to mug him with a gun and said he would kill him. Denny admitted that he shot the mugger and prospective killer in both knees. As this is TV, this criminal had been trying to be caught by the police who always failed. The jury, and of course this is TV, found him not guilty. The writers clearly sent a statement to the viewers that people were fed up with being mugged, robbed and threatened. In many cases, some of which were on “Boston Legal” the individuals who would cling to the truth were always found innocent. One of the parts of the writing is that the villain is never caught. That makes it difficult in my mind as stories go. Do you believe that everyone should cling to the truth? The Good Gus Series is available online at Kindle, Nook and Waterstones.
