Smooth Talker

There are individuals in life, paricularly men, who are most definitely a smooth talker. I remember seeing an old episode of “Matlock” with a man who had three wives.  Obviously, one was accused of killing him. It was then that the other two women  realized just exactly what a smooth talker their husband was.  Of the three none of them had a clue as to his true life and their fake marriages. In the end, his brother, who never had a life, a family, a girlfriend, and only worked all the time did the bigamist in. He became jealous and then angry because his brother couldn’t pay for three homes and started dipping into the company finances. When I ws young, there were many boys who were definiely smooth talkers. They knew just how to convince a girl to do things she had never planned. I dated a few who instatnly dumped me when I wouldn’t cooperate. Also during that time period there were different rules and laws. One of the problems was that used car salesman were well versed in selling cars that should have been in the junk yard. I remember one time my son was working at a tire company while attending college for a second degree in America. Two ladies came in with a car that they said needed tires. They said they were planning to make a cross country trip. They also had said that they just purchased the vehicle. He put it up on the lift and told them them to turn right around and take the car back. The vehicle was truly a piece of junk and would have never made it out of state. They listened to him. The smooth talker had no option as it hadn’t even been two hours since the purchase. Now the rules have changed due to consumer laws which frankly is a good thing. Even though many of those laws were in effect when the ladies purchased the car, the smooth talker figured that they would leave the state and he would keep his wonderful commission.
