The job market has certainly changed over the past several years. Wages have increased in some states while others remained the same. Many employers only want part timers so as to reduce their tax and benefit obligations. It is difficult for individuals seeking employment. Now, on social media, there is a shortage of blue collar workers. The college degree has been pushed for years only to have students graduate and find that the job market had no place for them. It is continually shifting but I think the part time is probably the most difficult. That basically means that people who need to support a family have to work two and three jobs to equal the pay of one. I saw an articl about a couple that moved to the Dallas Ft. Worth area from California. They only lasted four months. They were appalled at the minimum wage for servers. The minimum wage is much higher in California along with state income tax. Although they didn’t mention that the restaurant prices reflected this. They claimed the cost of living was the same but it really wasn’t. There is no state income tax in Texas. Granted the weather is not the same but if you are going to make comparisons that utilize all the facts. If you want to move to a new location, before you do anything check the job market if you will require an income. It is also important to use one of the charts available online for the cost of living. That way as you puruse the job maket you will know how to proceed.
