Boad Games

When I was young I loved playing board games. When I married we had a board game night. It included pizza and raw vegetables with dip. I loved it. I felt that it brought us together as a family with a certain type of comradery. As my children grew and computer games came along the game nights began to lesson. I still have two wooden boxes full of all types of games such as Sorry, Monopoly, Clue and a great many more.  Game night is a tradtion that families should return to. If only once a month it would at least give them that special time. These days families rarely even eat together. When my stepchildren were in high school and also worked afterwards, I had one rule. We all ate dinner together every Sunday. If nothing else it gave us a chance to catch up. My stepson played basketball and had an after school job. I made him breakfast, gave him money for a second breakfast, two lunches, had a snack waiting for him when he came home and food to take to work to eat on his dinner break. He was very tall. Then I had dinner waiting for him when he came home so I did know more about his life than even his father. As they became young adults the games were packed away until my children. As they develped it lost all interest for them. Once in a while my late husband and I played cribbage. I rarely won! I think spending quality time with our families without technology is important. It helps to re-establish the lines of communication, don’t you agree? The Good Gus Series is available online at Kindle, Nook and Waterstones.
