College Loans

Many adults are now in debt for life due to college loans. What bothers me is that the fees for colleges are so high. If anyone delved into the salaries of the staff they might be shocked.  Their salaries, for many of the executive staff, are well over one million dollars or one million eighty thousand Euros. That is more probably than eight to ten graduates make each year. I saw an article about the huge push to attend college convincing young adults that they couldn’t get a job  only to discover upon graduation there were no jobs for the grads. Now, they are all basically stuck with making payments that equal rent for many other individuals. It is not a good system. I actually know a man who has used the system to his advantage. He has attended college off and on for over thirty years in various states. He even joined the military so that they would pay for his college tuition and books. Of course, he abused the system horribly. He didn’t always attend, forged notes to prevent incompletes or failures and basically cheated whenever possible. When a school administrator figured out what he was doing he simply moved to another location. He then conned the next person and started over. So after all this time, while others are paying, he has no debt but also no degree. My cousin’s daughter pays a large sum every month and she should be able to pay it off in at least another thirty-five years. She has been paying for sixteen years so far. There has to be a better way. I paid for my children’s college tuition in California, Tennessee and in Ireland. Although I did receive a break in Ireland as I am an Irish citizen. The politicians talk a great deal but has anyone thought about the money that all those high paid executives receive and continue to receive to helping students reduce their debts? It just could be the solution. The Good Gus Series is available online at Kindle, Nook and Waterstones.
