Happiness seems almost elusive to many people. They spend too much time worrying, accepting all the stress rather than ignore it, and are in an unhappy environment.  If you want real happiness one of the first things you should do is mind your own business.  It doesn’t matter what other people are doing or how successful they are.  If you reach a certain age and don’t have the career success you were hoping, don’t dwell on it.  Don’t compare yourself to others.  Also do what you feel is right for you.  In your heart you know what that is. Walk your own path and ignore distractions.  It is you that matters most in life.  If you focus on meaningful work and have mental peace, there won’t be much that will rattle you.  Be yourself.  If you are looking for validation from others regarding your self-worth, forget it.  No one has a right to judge you.  Often people think they know you, but in reality they don’t.  They may say things that are hurtful which will destroy your self esteem to make them feel better inside.  It is useless. The people who like you just the way you are will be your true friends.  The individuals who try to define you are trying to destroy your happiness.  Do not allow it.  If you rely on other people or events then you will be unhappy.  If you make others responsible for your happiness you will not feel good about yourself.  Your happiness depends upon who you are, how you look at things and not necessarily your situation.  Have you ever noticed people who are poor are happy?  It’s because they feel it inside even though their circumstances are not the best.  If you want to feel the happiness, stop holding on to the past.  Resentment can destroy you.  Forgiveness will heal your wounds and letting go will release the pain.  If you live or work in a negative environment, change it.  It will only make you feel sad about yourself.  If you join the negativity game, you will not win. It will overtake you and your happiness will disappear.  Lastly, don’t lie.  Many people do but then they can’t remember their lies.  The old saying, ‘The truth will set you free’ is true.  Embrace it to find inner peace and true happiness.  Not everyone in the Good Gus series was happy, but the majority of the citizens of Pecos were glad to live in their town with their families and friends.  The series is available exclusively on Kindle worldwide.  If happiness is eluding you while you struggle to handle a relative’s finances or estate, take a reading break for “Misplaced Trust.”  It is available on the following e-book websites: 24 Symbols, Apple, Nook, Kindle, Kobo, Page Foundry, Scribd, Playster and Tolino.
