There are constantly changing new health foods that become popular. They are trendy so if you are at a juice bar, or health style restaurant they are the foods you are expected to buy and eat. For example, cold pressed juices are topping the list. They have risen in popularity over the past few years and along with that a high price tag. The interesting part of this is that if you believe you are getting all the nutrients you could possibly need, you would be wrong. These foods often are stripped of their nutrients during the juicing process. Coupled with the fact that apples and other types of fruits are added to counteract the bitterness of the vegetables only adds more sugar and carbohydrates. Not to mention that it is juice without the fiber. You are better off juicing at home and not straining the pulp. In the end, if you drink one or two of these juices you will not only miss all the nutrition you were hoping for, but you will still be craving the nutrients you were originally seeking. Vegan cookies or biscuits may sound good in theory, but not all health foods labelled as such are really healthy. For example, a vegan chocolate chip cookie or biscuit may be made with organic or raw ingredients. However, it can be be around two hundred forty calories with approximately thirty-nine grams of carbohydrates of which nineteen are sugar. What is worse is that fast food french fries have less carbohydrates, sugar and calories! Some choice! Jackfruit has become a new substitution for meat. Unfortunately, it is not a good substitute as one serving contains only three grams of protein. On top of which it contains thirty-one grams of sugar which as much as an average candy bar. There are certainty much better options for vegans and vegetarians than this product. If you are watching your sugar in take or counting carbohydrates, you may want to limit the amount of pineapple, cherries pomegranates, and mangoes you consume. Vegetables that are high in carbohydrates are potatoes, winter squash and Jicama. There are other trendy health foods right now but these are just a few examples for people watching their caloric intake, sugars and carbohydrates. After all it is Spring!
