Lonely

Many people become lonely during the holiday season.  It is a difficult time if you have financial problems, no family near by, close friends or even relatives who have abandonded you.  Walking in any mall, on TV, even in small towns you hear Christmas music.  If you feel lonely, it is very sad. There are individuals who would like to try to enjoy the holiday season yet they have no one to enjoy a meal with, give a gift to, or even open a present themselves.  Many restaurants know lonely people as they eat at their establishments on a daily basis.  I saw a video on Facebook once about a man who suddenly stopped going to an eatery.  The staff began to wonder and eventutally found out his address.  He was alone and had been sick. He had very limited food.  So, rather than dismiss his situation, they began bringing him food from the restaurant and groceries.  His whole life became much more cheerful.  I have also seen videos where children in schools have brought extra toys for their classmates whom they knew had no money.  The kindness that should be all year round if often only during the holiday season. If a person is out and about and notices another individual all alone they should stop and socialize, even if it is only a cup of coffee or tea. A few moments of conversation can brighten anyone’s day.  I have always mentioned in previous blogs the extra few seconds it takes to hold a door, reach for an item in a shop or just say hello which is golden. With the strife in the world many individuals are very lonely and need kindness and support. After all it doesn’t cost anything.  Sometimes the best things in life are free don’t you agree?
