Memorial Day

Today is Memorial Day in the states yet there is little discussion about it in the media or internet.  It appears to be another day off with sales galore. It really should have some type of remembrance of the people who have passed particularly all military. There are graveyards around the country many with a white cross and no name as they are for the unknown soldiers. It has always been a day that my marvelous late cousin would go to check family graves and make sure they were well taken care of.  It is a day we should think about the positive things the people who are now gone said or did. Sadly, everywhere I looked today there were articles about everything but remembering the many people who passed in service of this country and for what they believed was freedom. I think what is really annoying is all the political chatter. For many individuals, the military is a hard life. If they survived, they should be appreciated.  Of course, today anyone who was in the military receives a big discount on any Memorial Day sales.  I had many relatives who had been in wars and survived.  I will think of them today and remember them fondly. I hope if you know anyone who has served you will feel the same. The Good Gus Series is available online at Kindle, Nook and Waterstones.
