Feeling serene and calm within our minds is not always easy. We are all stressed whether it is work, family, or money.  Our lives are under constant pressure and we react often without realizing it.  The daily stress of earning a living can make our minds go crazy.  Looking to feel serene and calm our minds takes effort.  If we slow our brains down, we can think more clearly and make good decisions.  If you find yourself wishing you could slow your mind down and feel serene there are a few things you can do.  The most obvious is to simply go to a quiet spot and try to relax.  Try taking a deep breath.  If you try this you can begin to notice how your mind changes.  The deep breath seems to help you get control.  If you are with a person who is annoying, rather than lose your temper, take that deep breath.  It will allow you to regain control of your emotions.  It can come in handy in the workplace where co-workers can be difficult or even your boss. You can also inhale through your nose and exhale slowly while counting to ten.  Another way to help keep control and regain that serene feeling is to sigh.  It’s actually a release technique.  If you draw air in through your nose and expel it with a deep sigh, it will help release some of your pent-up anger or worries.  It also slows your mind down and helps you to clear your thoughts.   This is obviously not the sigh of exasperation!  If you experiment with these techniques you may find that your mind which may be running wild, will slow down and you will feel calm and serene. There was no hustle and bustle in the era the Good Gus series when it  was written so almost everyone in town was calm and serene.  The series is available exclusively on Kindle worldwide.  If you are having trouble calming down and feeling serene, a good book is always a nice alternative choice.  Try “Misplaced Trust” which is available 24 Symbols, Apple, Nook, Kindle, Kobo, Page Foundry, Scribd, Playster and Tolino.
