Have you ever wondered why people have the need to seek revenge? In what would be called the ‘olden days,’ there were groups who fought against each other such as various nationalities of organized crime. People often believe it was the Italians only, but they would be wrong. Groups came to America from various countries and were highly discriminated against. Rather put up with it they started their own organizations. Many were quite efficient at lying, cheating and stealing. They all had their own territories which if another group interfered they would instantly seek revenge. In today’s world, revenge comes in a variety of forms. The organized crime groups continue to exist but they keep a low profile. When individuals seek revenge, it usually ends up in a huge mess. In many of the TV shows, the person seeking vengeance goes too far and makes non reversible mistakes. In real life I have seen people flatten another person’s tire, move a car into a red zone and then call the police so it would be towed, lie about a person and have them arrested and so much more. It is not acceptable to seek revenge. By holding grudges the anger seethes inside of a person causing them to act foolishly. In many of the TV shows the bullies seek revenge on other people including children, teens and adults. With the children it is usually jealousy and the bully will go out of their way to punish a student who surpasses them in class, is better at sports or who has nicer friends. The teens often think it is funny to seek revenge. Many of the shows and videos on Facebook show the teens actually enjoying taking out vengeance on other students. I saw a short clip on Facebook about a high school cheerleader who was sure one girl was going after her boyfriend. While she was hurting her, three of her friends watched her and laughed. Then the victim’s sister arrived to take her home and saw the entire scene. She told her sister to go to the car and she walked up to the bully and said in no uncertain terms both in words and with physical action, to leave her sister alone. The bully was furious and decided to seek revenge by lying to her father that the girl was picking on her all the time. When the dad went to the sisters’ home, it was made quite clear that his daughter was indeed the antagonist.
