A Chance

Everyone deserves a chance.  I have seen bits and pieces of “The Ron Clark Story” on Facebook.  It is a great story about a man believing in giving children with absolutely no hope or opportunities in life a real chance.  I have seen his first day which would have made anyone quit.  However, he believed and had hope.  One girl, who pretty much ran the class, took a great deal of effort to turn around.  He walked home with her one day and worked with her on her homework.  After a short period, five children were dropped off and she told Mr. Clark she had to make dinner.  He said no that he would make it that she needed to finished her homework.  Once dinner was ready and everyone was eating her mother came home.  She was furious.  She threw Mr. Clark out.  The next day she was angry with the principal while her daughter and Mr. Clark were in his office.  She basically didn’t want him back at her home.  She left in a huff but Mr. Clark followed her.  He explained that her daughter was really bright and he thought he could help her receive a scholarship to a gifted middle school. This stopped her literally.  She then changed her mind and said that the children could be babysat a little longer.  Another scene was with a boy whom Mr. Clark made chose between him and a gang.  He chose Mr. Clark and he also helped him.  The point is that we all deserve a chance regardless of our circumstances. We all try in life but we also make mistakes.  Fixing them is important rather than letting them slide into more errors.  Often people feel that they have made too many faux pas and don’t think their lives will turn around.  However, they just have to try harder and look a little deeper to see that there is always a way out, don’t you agree?
