Life After Hate

Many people have carried prejudices, anger and bad feelings towards ethnicities that do you ever wonder if they will ever have life after hate?  They carry these feelings and grudges that probably have no rhyme or reason. Children learn it at home and possibly their parents before them.  If left alone children do not have any prejudices.  If another child is fun to play with and is nice to them that is all that truly matters. The continual battles between groups is not really necessary.  Finding a way to get along is what is important.  Occasionally, due to violent behavior, individuals are forced to attend therapy. It is there that they begin to learn that there is life after hate.  The sad part about prisons is that anyone who was placed there because of crimes of hate only become more intense in their feelings.  We all want peace in the world but obtaining it is another matter. Each side does not want to give in and negotiate.  They all believe they are right and the other side deserves punishment. I just read today that the German government is reluctantly telling individuals of a certain religion to hide their faith due to the extreme prejudice of various political groups. Is there a cure for life after hate?  It is very difficult to reprogram individuals who hate with no true reason. I could understand if a person killed a family member or disfigured them in some way as their feelings would be quite bitter.  However, learning not to hate actually takes real work. It is important to accept people for who they are. A few years ago I was rear ended in my car while stopped at a red light. I did have various forms of physical therapy. I was sent to a sports doctor.  I very specifically told her I did not wish to have any types of steroid shots.  Because of the ethnicity of my last name, she shot me full of the steroids anyways. Within weeks I gained over twenty-five pounds. I had not changed my diet or the amount of food I ate.  It took me over two years to take that weight back off. So as much as we all like life after hate I am not sure it even exists. What is your opinion? The Good Gus Series is available online at Kindle, Nook and Waterstones.
