If you really think about it, good outshines negativity every time. So many people are negative and do despicable things that no one even notices the good. There was even a movie “Despicable Me” by Disney. Everyone talks about doing the right thing but how many actually do? When I wrote the Good Gus series the motto for all books was the following. “Sheriff Gus is a good sheriff because he always does the right thing.” I thought it was important for young children to see a positive role model. So many of the movies seem to allow bad behavior and acting out as opposed to allowing positive reinforcement. All the religions categorially state that good outshines negativity. Yet it is not working. How many people do you know did one good deed over the Christmas holiday? There is still time as Little Christmas was January 8, 2024. It doesn’t take a great deal of effort or time to perform a good deed. Now is the time to clean out your closets. You may have clothes you have not worn in years. Why hold onto them? If they aren’t your style anymore or your size, donate. People are struggling. Inflation is rampart. It is better to give and help those in need. The best part is that it is a slient gift. Only you know. Often people feel the need to be acknowledged for giving, donating or helping a person or family in need. If they need to receive accolades then just write a check to a charity. Being part of doing something good should make a person feel really wonderful inside. They should not require acknowledgement or recognition. Frequently people are so engrossed in their own lives that they do not even know that their neighbors might need help. That is why good outshines negativity, don’t you agree?
