Almost everyone likes things clean and neat. This includes their homes, their vehicles, and where they work. If everyone liked the world clean and neat there would be no litter on the streets and sidewalks or television shows in the United States called “Hoarders.” As we grew up, the majority of us were taught to be clean and neat and not to leave a mess anywhere particularly if we were visiting someone. We were taught to have respect for other people’s property. Recently I watched a show on “Undercover Boss” in the United Kingdom. The Best Western hotel chain sent their Chief Executive Officer undercover to find out about a couple of hotels that were not meeting their high standards of rating. The CEO had been working in hotels since he was twenty and he was sixty on the show. He was appalled at how some of the employees were trained to work and cut corners. What shocked me was the way many of the people left their hotel rooms. They were absolutely disgusting. What possess anyone to think that if they wouldn’t leave a mess in their own home that they should leave one at a hotel? They have to pay to live in their own home and I am sure that if their mothers saw the mess, they would be quite upset. Others have to clean up those messes and in most cases make minimum wage. I believe people should remember their manners and leave their hotel rooms reasonably clean and neat. There should be considerations for the people doing the cleaning.I have also seen the same messes on airlines which has receive publicity lately. How does this relate to the Good Gus Series? In the old west, everyone learned and passed it along to clean up their messes and be neat. When you think about showing children manners, I hope you will consider a Good Gus Series book.
