In all sports, particuarly team, pep talks are key to sending the players out on the fiel or the court. They boost morale and it seems to help even if they are losing. It is also applicable when people are facing real problems. They need to feel they can succeed. I think that is what much of the coaching is on the internet and particuarly YouTube. They all say almost the exact same thing. They tell everyone that they have old beliefs that are holding them back such as they are a failure, a loser, will never succeed, are too stupid, don’t have the skills and so much more. Many people in every day life do not have these thoughts or beliefs. The individuals that do may recognize the postings and make changes in their lives. Over the years we all try to do better and succeed. It can be professionally, personally or even something simple such as a beautiful garden. Whatever it is, it doesn’t mean that everyone has these thoughts. It is repeated endlessly in the short ad clips. Many of us have gone through life doing the best we could. We were not thinking we were failures but worked towards goals to be a success. I saw a short clip with Julia Roberts and another actress Kristen Dunst. Julia was trying to convince Kristen to attend the college of her choice, Yale. She was not sure as she was engaged to be married When Julia Roberts spoke to her fiance his attitude was of the times. He thought it was impossible for his future wife to attend college since he would be working two states away and how could she have dinner ready for him when he arrived home. That blew me away. She believed in herself enough to attend a fine college but not enough if it interfered with marriage. Interesting concept. Julia Roberts was attempting to give her a pep talk in this short clip.
