Unfit Restaurants

Today in the news were several unfit restaurants in the greater Dallas Ft. Worth area. What shocked me is that some were chains and a few were in hotels. The fact that they found roaches and flies in at least ten eateries was surprizing. It makes you stop and wonder. Over the years there have been several chains that have had to close due to these problems plus samonella, serving old or outdated foods, and more. Yet once they open people flock back to them as if nothing ever happened. Sure everyone deserves a second chance but some of these unfit restaurants have been shut down more than once. During the height of COVID I was always so surprized to see lines at various fast food shops while returning from buying groceries. Often the lines extended to the next car park. I am not a fan of fast food or take away. Even while living in Ireland my son and I only ate at restaruants a few times for special occasions. They did not have any articles about unfit restaurnats. Many people live their lives eating out.  It is not really healthy but it is their choice and their money. Only recently there was an article about the best restaurants in the world and the United States only had two. You would think with all the chefs, the cooking shows, with chefs owning restaurants that the number might have been much higher. Often when people travel they do eat at American chain restaurants particuarly in Europe. However, many of the large chains do have farm to table products which makes them unique. Anyone who has lived abroad or is from another country understand the differences of foods from America and everywhere else. There are a variety of facts and tasks farm products go through to reach the grocery. For example, in Europe no one refrigerates eggs. When I would buy eggs they were usually dirty but properly boxes. I would bring them home wash them off and place in the fridge. In the states there is a cleaning process which washes off the outer protective coating of the eggs which requires them to be refrigerated. So in the future, before you choose fast food or take away check the status and ratings of any eateries to verify that they are not unfit restaurants.
