One of the topics you often see on the internet and Facebook is toxic relationships. People start out with a person they believe is a great person. Then slowly over time things change. This is particuarly true of narcissists. They lure a person with sweet talk, what appears to be kindness and generosity. Then once they are sure the person is under their control they lower the boom. They become extremely controlling. They are jealous of anyone even remotely interested in their parterner. If their partner tries to leave they seek revenge. They don’t care as long as they are in control and have what they want. This is also true of parents who are too controlling. They tend to keep their children away from other kids and only let them be involved in an activity that they have complete control over. Talk about toxic. The children do not grow up with real friends and learn how to deal with every day life and real emotions. If they could they would keep them at home all the time but often they have to allow them to attend school because that is the law and they need to work for an income. Many of the children in foster homes have lived through toxic relationships. There was an expsode on “Will Trent” about a young girl that one of the GBI was trying to help. The officer was Angie. The young girl had lived through a toxic relationship in her home and even a few foster care homes. Eventually, it was discovered by Will that she was a serial killer. It was a shocking episode. Anyone in a toxic relationship if they can recognize it should seek help immediately, don’t you agree? The Good Gus Series is available online at Kindle, Nook and Waterstones.
