AI is changing pronunciation of words. The system does not always use words correctly plus many of the words are mispronounced. It sounds silly yet people are listening now to AI recordings on a daily basis. Not to mention, as more and more children are attached to their phones, tablets, and computers they are hearing words that are not pronunced properly. Part of the learning process, particuarly for young children, is learning how to use the proper pronunciation of all words. This also helps them learn how to spell. I saw a short reel about a boy who came from a wealthy family. What was most important to the parents was that the boy and his older brother always obtained the best grades. The younger boy was doing poorly in class. The teacher even called him lazy and other kids picked on him and called him stupid. It was heartbreaking. One day the janitor heard the other kids bullying him and made them stop. The little boy explained how he could not master spelling and the teacher even told him to stop being so lazy. The janitor began tutoring him. He started with proper pronunciation, rules of spelling and even gave him a few mnenonic tips. Before long the boy went from the lowest score to the highest. When his parents finally noticed they apologized to him. Of course, the boy brought his parents to meet the janitor so they could thank him. They also gave him a huge check to pay for his schooling and an income while attending college. They told the janitor that he was already an excellent teacher he just needed the credentials. When people cannot say words with the proper pronunciation, it is often confusing. That is why I feel that another look should be taked at the AI programs that are speaking the ads, stories, games, etc. How do you feel about the AI incorrect pronunciation?
