I think everyone would like to always find the easy way out. However, taking short cuts doesn’t always work. I rememer an old “Leave it to Beaver” episode in which Wally was the feature. He was in school and had taken a test that day. The following day the grades were posted and he receive a 92. Of course, Lumpy and Eddie did not even receive passing grades. One more day past after the grades had been posted when Wally was called into class after school by the teacher. He read a note to Wally which insinuated that he had cheated. The note said that he had left the answers in the washroom. It went on to say that the student had spilled ink on his hands, gave his exact grade and said he was not a girl. The teacher knew it wasn’t Wally. He explained that when he first started teaching he learned that many students tried to take the easy way out by leaving the answers hidden behind the paper towels. Ever since, he always checked the washroom before a test. Wally was furious. When he went home he discussed it with is dad and flat out asked him if he thought Eddie would ever change. He said only if he one day realized it and decided to change. Later the evening Eddie came by to talk to Wally about the test. Wally let him know that he knew he sent the letter to their teacher. Eddie was surpised that he knew and that he didn’t cheat. He even said he was sorry. Wally thought to himself that there just might be hope for Eddie yet. Taking the easy way out when cooking is always a mistake. If you take a short cut the recipe always fails. This is also true when people try to cut corners on a project, schoolwork, household chores and even taking a short cut when driving. It just never works out in the end.
