We all have imperfections. However, we often don’t accept them within ourselves. What makes it more difficult is that family, friends and even strangers do not accept a person’s imperfections. When we grew up we were all taught to strive for perfection. We were supposed to look perfect, get outstanding grades, excell at sports, dance, etc. If we did not perform exactly as we should criticism, unpleasant remarks, and even insults abounded. I don’t understand why this is so prevalent. Is it possible that the so called “beautiful people” makes anyone with enough confidence feel inferior? They may believe that because these famous people look perfect to them that they need to be exactly like them. Over the years the super thin models starved themselves and many developed anorexia. Then they ended up with serious health issues. The same is true of steroids. More muscle doesn’t necessarilly mean good health or even an attractive appearance. Everyone wants to look their best but that doesn’t mean that they should duplicate the body builders that win the contests. I think trying to achieve perfection is impossible. I saw a short video about a ninety year old man who was dying. A young man asked him why he never married. He explained that he was always seeking the perfect woman. Sadly, he never found her and ended up alone. He told the young man to love a person and accept her imperfections. He told him he would have problems from time to time but he would be happy and not end up alone like him. If we didn’t want to look absolutely perfect the make-up industry, hair products companies, and clothing manufacturers would not have the over the top sales.
