For many people, their status and standing in the community, business world, and social world appears to be far more important than anything else. How many movies, Facebook videos, Pocket FM, and other stories revolve around a person’s status> Many of the stories feel that their families are above everyone else and therefore, their adult children, must marry into another wealthy family to maintain their status. Why is the outward appearance of being wealthy and upper class so important? They tend to raise children who treat anyone they consider poor in a bad and bullying way. Most children treat each other with kindness until they reach a certain age and their parents realize that they don’t want their children associating with “Just anyone.” This is sad as there many people who are wealthy who made it by their abilities and brains not the money their parents gave them. Being spoiled is now a real fact of life. When I went to school, I came basically from a poor family. I wore used clothes until I turned eight and began babysitting. Then I was able to buy new clothes slowly until I ended up with a job as a teen. Of course, as I became older my hourly rate increased. I did have a friend whose mother gave me her old clothes which were quite lovely. I did get noticed as she had worn those clothes previously but they weren’t too mean. Today, however, the status of everyone seems to be a primary topic of much social media. Do you really care if a star or celebrity wore an expensive designer dress, expensive shoes, etc.? I do not. I would rather look nice every single day and wear clean decent clothing. It saddens me that as our children grow they are exposed to this type of attitude, don’t you agree?
