How annoyed do you become when you call a phone number and received the automated voice? I become extremely annoyed and irritated. They can’t hear you. They make you repeat everything and most of the time they get it wrong. How they can get January out of September is beyond me. Plus I love it when they think I was born in 1921. That is surely a winner. I understand that companies are reducing their costs but at what price? The automated voice has no idea if you say something that they aren’t expecting. That makes it even worse and I don’t know anyone that doesn’t lose their patience. Miss Patty has found telling them they are stupid to be stress relieving while demanding a real person. I told one today that I hated them. Personal service is just gone. There are people in the office and with everything automated why can’t a live body answer the phone? Years ago there was only the live operator. When I graduated from high school, the girls who could afford college or business school attended. Many of the girls were hired by AT&T as switchboard operators. Over time as that phase disappeared with newer upgraded phone systems, they remained with the company and were promoted. I know that many of the girls also bought their stock when they had the options at very low prices. Most of them saved it for retirement and by the time they sold their stock, they were able to retire in luxury. The automated voice system should change don’t you agree?
