Today’s bosses are making their Gen Z employees redundant. They are letting them go within a few months of hiring. One thousand business leaders were surveyed and found that there were numerous shortcomings from the class of 2024. Many said they are reluctant to hire college graduates again. All the pushing that I posted about yesterday regarding the need for a degree only to see today that it may have been a waste. Seventy-five percent of the hiring managers said that they were disappointed in their recent hires. It is amazing that the cost of college is so expensive and yet the graduates don’t have the skills for the real world. At least fifty percent of the recent grads lack any type of motivation. That is significant as how do they expect to succeed without the drive to become successful and do a good job. Not only are they not qualified but they cannot handle the workload. What has happend to this generation? Do they find doing a solid day’s work for a good rate of pay distasteful? The colleges are actually aware that they are turning out graduates who are totally unprepared for the workforce. This is not a good system. When I was in high school, most of the boys took some form of shop whether it was metal or woodworking. The girls learned sewing and cooking. Of course, back then the girls were supposed to marry right out of high school. The point being is that we learned skills and were required to excell in order to receive a good grade. It was early on work experience in a different form. Today, the workforce and how people are treated is completely different. There are some companies that do overwork their employees. They end up working ten to twelve hours a day and now I know why. Basically it is because they have the skills, are willing to work and can handle the job. They are making the slackers redundant and forcing the skilled employees do their jobs. This also could be the reason that orlder workers are being hired again. They have the ambition, drive and most importantly need the money. Do you believe that the workforce is changing? The Good Gus Series is available online at Kindle, Nook and Waterstones.
