Karma

Many people believe in karma. Is it real? Often the articles claim that it is and that people received exactly what they deserved. Somehow I just don’t think it is karma that the southeastern part of the United States has been destroyed by a hurricane. Lives have been lost. Homes literally floated down makeshift rivers. Of course, my thoughts wonder to the travels of all the reptiles that were relocated due to the flooding. They may easily end up in residential homes. It’s actaully frightening when you think about it. Now homes in Southern California are falling into a canyon outside of Los Angeles. I don’t think that is karma either. There are individuals in life who actually do receive karma. There was a man who still lives in my old neighborhood. He was abusive and physically harassed many of the women in our community. In addition, he embezzled money from the home owners’ association. My friend, who still lives there, told me that he has indeed been struck by karma. He now has a severe case of Parkinson’s disease that has stopped him from abusing the women in my former neighborhood. My friend said, “See once in a while karma does strike back.” How many people do you know constantly get away with all types of activities including illegal actions, abuse, theft, and so much more? Yet nothing happens to them. I know a former relative that has lied, cheated and stole his entire life. Yet he never sees any karma. I know he has cheated insurance companies, on term papers and exams, lied to government officials and in court. Yet, karma has not even touched him. In today’s news another CEO admited to a conspiracy to keep oil prices high. Thank you so much for making everyone’s life around the globe more difficult and costly. Do you think he will be punished or charged with conspiracy? I don’t. What do you believe? The Good Gus Series is available online at Kindle, Nook and Waterstones.
