Improve

In life I think it is more important to improve rather than prove. Most people believe that they have to prove everything including themselves. However, it just isn’t true. Life is difficult as it is with many ups and downs. The best way to change and turn yourself around is to improve. From the time we are young we were told to improve ourselves, do better, try harder, succeed, believe in yourself, etc. Sometimes it just wasn’t easy but the answer does lie in trying to improve anything and everything. For example, how often in the workplace are you told to make changes, redo something, or basically improve your work? We frequently do our best and it is occasionally rejected. We  try but sometimes it just isn’t enough. In school there are children who need extra assistance. They may have not understood the lesson the first time or they may have been absent so much due to lazy parenting that they fall behind. It takes a real effort to do things correctly. Tutoring helps in all areas of life. This includes schooling, the workplace, and in learning new skills. For example, a student whether young or old can have difficulty with tests. When I was in business school I had a terrible time when it came to the tests. The worst part was the teacher knew I had learned the skills and lessons. She knew that I didn’t need to improve as my work was always outstanding. However, at test time, even when I tried to remain calm, I still missed a good mark. When I took the shorthand test I should have easily scored perfectly. However, the more I tested the worse my grade was. Finally, she decided to keep the first grade that was good just not perfect. What would you have decided? In the Good Gus series the underlying goal in many of the stories is to always try to improve.
