We often don’t realize how important peace and quiet can be. Today as I was exercising, which is usually without noise, the washer was running. The only reason it was running was that earlier becaue our dog was too lazy to go outside and do her business. Even though I let her out at eleven last night, apparently it just wasn’t enough. People rarely recognize how important peace and quiet can be. If you live in the city, there is always noise. The same is true in suburbia just not quite as much. Don’t think the country is silent because it is not. My daughter and I live across from a field with cows and one horse plus a house with seven or eight yipping dogs. Not only that during the day they are never quiet and the owner believes that the ‘F’ word is acceptable vocabulary. Of course eighteen wheelers pass during the day with hay, horses and cows. When you try to relax at night before bed what do you do? Many people watch TV, read or listen to calming music. I like the calming music as it is easier to drift off. I lived in the country in Ireland and then the city. It wasn’t quite as noisy back then except for my grandfather’s snoring! Finding time for peace and quiet should be a part of your daily routine. It gives you time to relax and your mind to settle down. It is particularly important if you have had a rough day, don’t you agree?
