Fight, Flight or Freeze

When a person is suddenly in a bad or dangerous position they generally have three choices: flight, fight or freeze. These are the responses within our brains. The first, fight, is when a person decides to argue, resist, deny what is happening or resort to physical violence. The second, flight, a person runs away, avoids the situation or just ignores it. The last, freeze, is when a person becomes paralyzed, can’t move, waits it out and doesn’t do anything. They wait to see what will happen. This is difficult for most people. Half want to end it the other half simply can’t. Most people are so caught up in fear that they can’t think clearly. What needs to occur is that a person needs to stop and figure out what they desire as the end result. Running away never solves anything because whatever the problem is it will continue to exist. Fighting either verbally or physically doesn’t always work out. Talking it out may reach a conclusion or be in a complete standstill. Either way it is the same result. Standing there in fear doesn’t help at all. The other person can sense your fear and make it much worse. That seems to be the case for many issues in life. Look at wars. No one wants to negotiate and if they do they want everything. It never works out. What I don’t understand is that all the destruction for a piece of land can’t be worth it. Yet it continues. What would you do fight, flight or freeze? In the Good Gus series there are situations that must be resolved. For example, in “The Cattle are Restless,” Cory immediately comes up with a solution for a cattle stampede. The whole town helps and stops a disaster. That is what is important about the series in that people are always helping each other. In “Misplaced Trust” the chapters will give an insight of what really happend legally after a person passes. It is a good read to take your mind off a long day.
