In the old TV shows and in recentt reels, there are always children who only have one parent. In the old TV shows such as “My Three Sons,” Chip is picked on by girls primarily and other kids because he only has a dad. His mum died when he was a baby and her dad, Bub, came to take care of the family. The dad, Mr. Douglas, does everything in his power to be both parents and Bub is a decent substitute. I don’t understand why children are teased for not having a mother or a father. In the reels it is always the single mother whose child is abused for not having a dad. I saw one reel where a rich man was riding in the back of his chauffeur driven car when he saw a few older boys bullying a boy because he had no father. He made the chauffeur stop the car and ran over to the boys. He immediately claimed to be the boy’s father and chased them away. The boy was about seven and he had snuck out of his home because the landlord was pounding on the door demanding rent. He called his mum who had panicked when she arrived home and he wan’t there. She left instantly to collect her son. When she met the boy’s savior, she knew instantly that he was the boy’s dad but she didn’t say anything. She thanked him and he gave them a ride home. Of course there is more to the story. The point of all this is that I cannot believe kids are bullied because they only have one parent, can you? In the Good Gus series there were single parents such as Charlie and his daughter Heather. The Bands who have twin boys, Joe Kelley and his wife who have a boy and girl and so forth. In the “Special Gift” which is a Christmas story, Ray adopts Liam and he becomes a single parent. The books have good morals with no one bullying other kids with either one or two parents.
