Despair

Henry David Thoreau wrote in one of his books “That most men live lives of quiet desperation.” It is true but the despair is also applicable to women. We are all frustrated with our lives and cope with a variety of issues on a daily basis.  Many individuals hate their jobs.  They look for new employment but are not always successful. Not to mention it is much worse now.  The job market has positions but being selected is not an easy task. I read today that many companies are using AI. What happened to the human touch? Everything is complicated.  The interviewers if they actually do it,  whether they admit it or not base their initial opinion on a person’s appearance.  If a person walks into an office job not wearing a suit, with a non classical hairstyle and not looking like the latest trend they may not be accepted.  The problem is that they may be extremely well qualified but still be rejected. Many married couples live in despair.  They are unhappy with each other and stay together for the children or for their incomes.  It is not easy.  Even students are forced into careers they may not want.  Their parents may insist upon it if they are paying. The truth is that everyday life is often boring.  We go to the same groceries, buy the same foods if they are in stock, drive the same route to work or if at home, start at the same time and just repeat the same routine on a daily basis.  Many families try to mix it up but with continual new strains of viruses and now the flu it isn’t straightforward. In the Good Gus series there was no time for despair.  Life was continually changing and new events occurred almost on a daily basis. The series is an instant download in e-book. In “Mispaced Trust” many of the characters do have despair. Take a break this week, download an e-book and enjoy. The Good Gus Series is available online at Kindle, Nook and Waterstones.
