When anyone thinks about addictions, they think about the hard drugs such as heroin. The trouble with life now is that drugs seem to be readily available. You often hear about celebrities getting high on cocaine. Those are just a few. I remember reading about it the 1950’s with housewives on valium, and other relaxing drugs. I was given that one time in the hospital to get my pain to slow down and instead I was truly sick. I was allergic. Gambling is a strong addiction. People believe they are going to win and then they lose everything. I saw a TV show the other day where an addict for gambling would convince the others in gamblers annonymous to go to the track and he would give them the best horses for a cut of the win. Nice guy!Let’s not leave out smoking and drinking. They are old standbys. The smoking not so much any more as it is forbidden in many locations. Alcohol is available everywhere so it is an easy purchase. A drink now and again is one thing, but killing a whole bottle is something else. Do you have any addicts in your family? Addictions and drugs were available during the Good Gus era just not in any of my books. Start immediately with an e-book. “Misplaced Trust” did have addicts. Often they would call four to five times a day at the office asking for their inheritance. It was a great day when it finally came through. Read it in e-boo.
