The gas/petrol crisis we are having now is draining everyone’s checkbook. Back in the 1970’s there was a similar gas crisis. The government specified days you could purchase petrol, this included traveling on a freeway or highway. You were also limited to one tank fill-up. You could not buy extra cans and have them filled. My late husband and I lived not too far from a station. At that time I owned a VW Bug. We knew the man and his son who owned the station close to my home. We were privileged to be able to make a purchase whenever we wanted. The reason being that my dog, a doberman pincher, had puppies and he wanted one. I sold a few but I gave one to the Vet for his treatment of the dogs, kept one, and gave one to him. He was thrilled as they were thoroughbreds. One of the worst parts of the crisis at that time were the long lines. If we went anywhere you just had to wait and pay whatever the price was. It sounds almost crazy given today’s prices but back then they went from thirty-six cents to fifty-five cents and higher. Today in the states the petrol price has increased one dollar or eighty-five Euro cents. Now in California it is approaching six dollars or five Euros. There were no vehicles during the Good Gus era. The books in e-book enlighten a child’s reading experience. There was no gas crisis in “Misplaced Trust” only true crime and greed. Choose an e-book for your reading pleasure.
