Body Odor

If you thought one of your grandparents’ had body odor you may have been correct. You may have thought that they didn’t shower regularly or wash their clothes frequently. However, that is wrong. It is a biological phenonenon. It literally happens to everyone as they age. It is an epidermal change. It is called 2-nonenal. Over time various conditions make the 2-nonenal begin to increase sometime after we reach forty. It occurs due to a variety of reasons such as too much exposure to the sun, and environmental stress. Many of us when we were young spent time at the beach, getting sun tans, and just being out in the sun in general. It is not instant. It occurs gradually. It also depends upon the amount of UV exposure you had over time. It was very common for the baby boomers to start on a tan as soon as it was warm enough. Now, however, if you want a tan you can use the fake tan cream. They also went to tanning salons which contained UV machines to make you look healthy.  Genetics may be a factor in which you never actually develop it. I think the worst part is that you cannot tell if you do have body odor. What do you think? In the Good Gus series this was never a topic.
