Slavery

Slavery was outlawed years ago. Yet it continues to occur. There was an article about a young boy who was a slave locked in a basement for over ten years.in America just recently.  Another boy was enslaved for nine years in a factory . He had been trafficed there when he was eleven to an Asian country. After he reached twenty-one he saw his chance to escape. There was a huge festival on one particual day and both the husband and wife, who were owners of the factory, planned on attending. He saw his chance and took it. Through the kindness of strangers and occasional part-time work, he made it home to his mother. She was overjoyed. He then decided to make a career of rescuing other enslaved children. Just in the U.K. today a woman was sentenced for slavery. She held the woman for twenty years. The poor female endured unimaginable abuse. She happens to have learning disabilities and this enslaver took advantage of her. She made her do house cleaning, abused her physically, never gave her medical care and punished her by starving her. Half the time she only ate crumbs. The criminal, Amanda Wixon, had ten children. It wasn’t until 2021 that one her children, a son, felt something was wrong and reported her. Now she faces thirteen years in prison. Frankly, I do not think that is enough, do you? There was no slavery in the Good Gus series. The stories bring life and adventure in an e-boook to the young reader. “Misplaced Trust” did not have slavery  only greed and true crime. Give an e-book a read. I think you will like it.
