Everyday there are several articles about child abuse and I am beginning to wonder why. Today there was an article about a woman in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. When she decided to discipline her children, she gave them the option of the belt or a gun. Finally, one of her children reported her. What type of person does that? What is even worse was that her boyfriend stood by and watched. I have been trying to figure it out for days from the previous articles. Many of the boomers had a parent who used a belt. I knew a girl whose mother beat her with a belt. The thing was she really didn’t do anything wrong. She had boys whom she didn’t touch. When her husband came home from work, he often beat one son. I often wondered why. Their next door neighbor could hear the boy’s screams. It was awful. The girl left once she obtained a full time job and the boy asked a relative to let him live with them and they took him in. The girl went to night school and the boy obtained a scholarship so they could both obtain college degrees. The other type of abuse is now so prevalent. I just saw an article about a Massachusetts police officer and his wife being arrested. How do we make all this stop? There was no child abuse in the Good Gus series only love, joy, and adventure.
