There is an older song entitled “I See Your True Colors” which really means that the singer could see a person’s true character. So many people are shallow that it is almost impossible to see their true worth. For example, my late husband was never one to be decent about paying bills. Often he would let them slide so long that I would end up doing all the finances. Most people were angry with him until I took over. Then, they began to see consistent payments and realized that if I said I would make a payment every week I did. Over the course of decades people came to trust me and I always paid off those bills. In today’s society, keeping your word is almost impossible. Everyone lies so it is difficult to establish a true sense of a person. The sociopath and the narcissist are perfect examples. They start out with a fabulous facade. Once they have their prey under control, their true character appears. You see this continually on the Facebook videos. The people excel at lying and being a complete phony. Even in many of the TV shows the writers make a concerted effort to make the viewer see and understand the liars and phonies. Some of the worst may be the individuals who are only interested in having a relationship or associate with an individual with money. There are countless TV plots with this very scheme. It frequently takes a while, but how often do you see a person’s true character? In the Good Gus series all the characters are good decent individuals.
