Foster Care

I saw a nice article today about foster care. There are many children waiting for a home. In the article today, a newly married couple was having a pumpkin decorating festival in their driveway. A little boy ran up to the husband and clung to him for the rest of the day. His mother and foster mother were there. Both the boy’s mother and foster parents struck up a conversation with the hosts. The couple were so new that they hadn’t even thought about children. It wasn’t long before the foster parents asked if they would take the boy on weekends. Apparently, as they live in Oklahoma where the rules are slightly different than many other areas. They agreed and the boy was thrilled. It wasn’t long before he became adoptable. The wife always knew that adoption would be part of their lives. By May of 2023 while she was expecting a little girl, the adoption became final. The boy now has a sister and they are a happy family.  What I think everyone would like about this couple was he was three when he became their son but was developmently slow. He had a fair amount to adjust to with a new home, a new name and new parents. Neither him or the parents could pronounce his name so they made it easy for all three. They enrolled him in therapy with four different patholoists four times a week. He is now six and a truly happy boy with happy parents. He has even played his first flag football game. I love this story as almost everything in the news or media is negative, don’t you? In the Good Gus series there is an adoption as well in “The Special Gift” which is a Christmas story. It was very popular because at that time before COVID, I had a radio show that had over 100,000 viewers. You may want to think about the series in e-book or paperback. “Misplaced Trust” did have issues with estates with children including adults with foster care. It might be a good read for your day off in e-book. The Good Gus Series is available online at Kindle, Nook and Waterstones. Hard copies, personally autographed, are available through our website www.goodgusbooks.com along with past blogs for your reading enjoyment. Now available audio and videos for the Good Gus series on YouTube! Digitizing for all the books are available now on YouTube! “Misplaced Trust” is now available on Amazon in e-book form. It is also available digitally at www.misplacedtrustbook.com. If you are thinking of a Will or a Living Trust, “Misplaced Trust” with a five star rating on Amazon will give you the information you need to make an informed decision.
