The workplace lunch is slowly disappearing. People are returning to work, but they are no longer socializing. Many simply bring lunch and eat at their desks or go out for fast food or take away. I think much of this has occured since the pandemic. Many workers now appear to feel pressured so they eat at their desk. It is too bad because taking a break and socialising is healthier in many ways. Not only conversing but simply not working and taking a mental break. There is also the new issue of shorter lunches. Often they are now regulated times which might not be worth it to go out to eat and rush back. The work day can sometimes be exhausting and mentaling tiring. Also for women, there are female issues which can exacerbate them physically. Then the balance of the day really drags on. I always prefered socialising during lunch. It was always good for a laugh, a funny joke or complaints about the work. I was never one to eat lunch and I still don’t. Do you like lunch?
