I saw in “The Princess Diaries” the queen said that good manners matter and they really do. People in the world today tend to be rude on a daily basis. Why, I have no idea but they do. We were all raised to say please and thank you, hold the door for others, carry groceries for anyone who needed it, and more. Yet today, people slam doors in your face and cut in front of you in line. I have heard people say, “Well you don’t have as much as I do so I am going in front of you.” If you say no they make a huge fuss and you will not leave the store for quite a while. I think it goes back to feeling entitled. They all believe they are better than anyone so the rest of us do not matter. I have written about people passing by when a person needs help. I saw a short reel today in which an older woman was walking home with several grocery bags. She fell and four boys around ten or so ran to help her and not only carried her roceriesbutbrought her home. She was obviously very grateful. My point is that for a few people good manners really do matter. They are also important at the table. The young children of today do not seem to know the value of a simple please and thank you. It makes such a difference, don’t you agree? In the Good Gus series I did express good manners. Download an e-book today to give good examples to the children in your life. In “Misplaced Trust” which is written about my experiences as a paralegal clearly showed that the beneficiaries had no clue what good manners were. Check it out in an e-book.
