It is very difficult in this day and age for children. They once rode bikes, played games, played sports on their street, played with dolls, trucks, etc. It seems to all but disappeared. Now it is video games, shows. anything but actual real fun and true knowledge. How many children to you know read books anymore? What happened to fun? The other day it was really warm so my granddaughter and her friend took turns dumpng buckets of water on each other. Today it is too cold for anything. I just read about a law that was passed in Iraq about children being allowed to be sold into marriage. They can be married based on perceived maturity and physical capacity. Once the law was passed four girls were married off for financial reasons. So far tweny-eight percent of the girls were married before the age of eighteen and twenty-two percent under the age of fourteen. The worst part is the men can divorce the children and take whatever children they had and marry another girl. This is all about money and financial gain. They have no education. I see the videos on Facebook all the time but they are older women. The parents will sell her off for large amounts of money or stock in a company. Either way it is all wrong. Children should be allowed to grow up, figure out their career goals, get an education, what they wish for or hope for in life. When I was fifteen a neighbor who was around eighteen joined the military and was placed in the south of the United States. He came back married to a girl my age. My friends and I were in shock. They stayed married but we thought she was missing out in life. What do you think? In the Good Gus series, children were just that chilcren. They played, did chores, went to school, had fun.
