Over the years, solar panels have become very popular. When it was limited in America in the early 2000’s, it was already installed in Ireland and Italy. Since then it has become a booming business. However, I saw an article today that is changing that at least in the State of Maine. The legislature is looking to have solar panel homeowners contribute to the community power. In addition, they are raising the fees for using solar panels. I thought the whole point was to conserve energy and help the homeowner save. This bill would begin by raising the solar rates every year. I don’t understand this at all. I follow both Irish news and Euro news and I have not seen them do this. Basically, the legislature will change the market after the fact and without any hearings. We are all trying to conserve energy and by using the sun we are. The fact the oil, petrol/gas has increased dramatically and our electric bills are killing us with the high heat, solar is a positive answer.When I went home to Ireland in 2008, I was amazed at how many homes actually had solar. We don’t exactly have sun like the desert. When my son and I took a trip to Italy, I saw numerous homes along the way on the train that had solar. It is the smart way to go. Almost every home in my old neighborhood in Las Vegas had solar. It is a good idea, don’t you agree? As electricity was not invented during the Good Gus era, candles and wood were used.
