Family Only

A woman in the UK was having a birthday party that she sent out ‘family only’ invitations. One relative was lived as they just adopted a three year old who is basically an orphan from the husband’s side of the family. Of course once the mother wrote in  to the media, the responses were overwhelming. Everyone was was angry. Technically and legally the toddler is family. However to exclude the child is horrific not only to numerous people but also to me. This family, by the way, has four biological children that were more than welcome. Besides being a child the fact that he or she is not invited is beyond comprehension. Can you imagine? I would never speak to them again. Children are innocent and this one is a true orphan. I have seen other articles about people having parties and telling a son or daughter they cannot invite their husband, wife or partner. What is the point of that? It certainly makes the other person feel unwanted. Not to mention the family member doesn’t feel truly part of their family with their other half not being included. To me ‘family only’ is an insult. When people are invited to my home, whomever they are whether related or not, if I have a strong relationship with them, I consider them family. You have no idea how many people call me “Mom” and I love it. How do you feel about family only? Everyone acted like family in the Good Gus series. There is even an adoption in the Christmas book, “The Special Gift.” It could be your next holiday favorite in e-book or paperback. “Misplaced Trust has family fights about family only.
