Secret

Everyone has a secret that they do not wish others to know. It is not true that it always is revealed as many people pass and never tell anyone. Unfortunately, individuals do discover a person’s secret usually by accident once they are gone. Often in movies, videos, articles and stories are the revelations of people finding their parents’ or grandparents’ past. In a Columbo episode, the infamous Jack Cassidy, starred as a magician. He, of course, refused to give any information about his magic tricks. As it was a Columbo episode, you already knew he was the murderer but they left you hanging as to why. At that time, Columbo had an assistant who to some degree was helpful on the case. The final clue came when Columbo, who was fascinated by the new typewriters, the selectrics, where they found the key. At first he could not understand as the carriage did not move. It was just a ball. Most people who are younger do not have a clue about this machine. It was the replacement for the manual typewriters prior to computers. Once Columbo took out the ink tape out he knew the answer. Jack Cassidy had an unbelievable secret. He was a former Nazi. If Columbo hadn’t figured out about the ink tape, Jack would have never been found out or convicted. It was a complete surprise to me as a plot. In the Good Gus series there were no secrets. It would have been a bad example for the young reader. The Good Gus Series is available online at Kindle, Nook and Waterstones.
