Honor

Treating people with honor and respect seems to be a thing of the past. Why is that? Do people lack self-respect and therefore pass it along to others? It is a thought to ponder. On Facebook there are almost daily short clips and videos about how poorly older people are being treatd.  There is one video about an older woman whose car had broken down. A man and a woman were walking to work when she asked for help. The man was very rude and disrespectful. The woman decided to help. The man reminded her that today was the big day for a promotion. She said it was more important to be kind and help the woman. It only took a few minutes before she figured out that the car was out of petrol or gas. She jogged the two miles or just a little over three kilometers each way to buy gas. When she arrived back to she poured the petrol in and the car started right up. She was planning to then walk to work when the older woman insisted on driving her. Today was the first day of her son’s new job and she had made chicken parmesan which was his favorite for lunch. The kind woman arrived after the meeting had started and her co-worker had alread literally thrown her under the bus. He said to the new boss she had more important things to do. Of course, you know what happens next. The older woman walked into the meeting with her son’s lunch. She noticed the kind girl and told her son immpediately, The male co-worker tried to wiesel out but it was impossible. The girl, of course, received the promotion. In an actual TV show, “The Pretender,” a woman had been trying for ten years to have her father’s name placed on the Vietnam Wall. He had been dishonorably discharged. She never believed the accusations. Of course, the star of the show, Jarod, figured out that her father was about to report his captain for selling secrets and peddling drugs. He finally caught him and her father was honored.  It is important that people be honored and treated with respect.  We all want to be treated well it’s just that there are too many people now who refuse to act propertly, don’t you agree?
