Half the articles in the news are about too much violence. I cannot understand why people go about injuring others or worse. Even in the school system, there are articles about teachers and even a principal choking a student, hitting him, and in general abusing their position of trust. Whhen I was in school none of this existed. As time went by, the violence in schools has excalated. Students today think nothing of bullying both boys and girls, fights, hurting each other and more. It is truly frightening. And if that isn’t bad enough, there are the shootings in schools. When will it end? More importantly why does it even happen? There are a few schools of thoughts. One is that a student is bullied so much that they decide on retaliation. The consequences are severe because if they don’t land in prison for life they are shot by the police. Either way it is not good. Another school of thought is that their homelife is terrible and that they want to be noticed by their parents. Whatever the reason, there has to be a way to prevent it. What is so shocking are the teachers who are hurting students. They were hired in a position of trust and yet they have allowed their emotions to interfere with their positions. Not all students are decent. Some are rude, nasty and unkind to their teachers and fellow students. What is important is that there are many good teachers who tolerate more than they should. I have teachers in my family and for a few of them their jobs are extremely difficult. One teacher is in a small town in Vermont. She has to deal with many foster kids and parents who just don’t care. A person like her deserves a medal as more than once a student has injured her. She is a true hero.
