The work ethic for the Gen Z is disappearing. Why? They don’t want to work it’s that simple. They are not interested in employment, education or even training. This is a global issue. According to the International Labour Organization only about one fifth of individuals between fifteen and twenty-four are working. This is creating global unemployment around the world. In Spain over one half a million Gen Z are not working, studing or even attempting to secure employment. The number in the UK is much higher. It is over three million people who are basically considered inactive. Many individuals will take a short hour work week in the UK only because if they work more they will lose government benefits. This is crazy. I started working when I was eight years old and continue to work today. What are the reasons? I guess they are varied. Most of the Gen Z are still living at home so mum and dad are paying their bills. The Gen Z seem to have anxiety, stress and depression. Still not a good enough reason not to work as many people go to work every day and have depression, stress and anxiety. The non working class needs to take a lesson from the older generations. That is part of the reason companies are hiring older workers again as they will show up and do the job. If you go into any large grocery or department store, the minimum age of their employess has changed. The people they let go or forced to retire are back. They are probably not only glad to be working but can certainly use the extra income during these difficult times. What you you think? Has the work ethic truly disappeared for the younger crowd?
