Eating Mindfully

Often we hear the words eating mindfully, but do you know what it really means? Basically, ignore the fast foods, various take aways, and eat at home more but with quality foods. For example, eating more salmon, avacadoes and using olive oil for cooking and salads would be a good start. People do not realize the  value of eating mindfully. The first place to start is at the grocery.  I always make a list.  Years ago when my son was first diagnosed with Type I Diabetes I read every label in the grocery. Now I am so familiar with products, I only read new items I might wish to try. Many people believe that you must eat salads every day.  It is just not true. Of course, leafy green vegetables are always recommended. If you do not like spinach, try a spinach pie. You might like it.   As I have been drinking coffee and tea since I was three,  it is highly recommended to avoid cancer and is part of the recommended items for good eating.  When I was young I drank caffeinated. Once I matured I started with decaf and now it is easier and less expensive to buy organic decaf online.  Of course, the Mediterrian diet does come highly recommended. Most diets and eating midfully suggests  that you include mackerel and chia seeds. Chia seeds can be added to many foods which also helps in releaving bathroom issues. I try to buy as much organic as is available. We all know the dirty dozen of fruit so it is a safe choice to buy as much fresh organic fruit as possible. If you are thinking about bone broth it is very easy to make and less expensive than the grocery. All you do is boil bones, I use chicken, in a pot of water and add any left over vegetables you have. You can throw in carrots, a clove of garlic, some sliced onion, celery, and any left over spices. I usually add a spoon of boullion which helps to give it flavor. It is very tasty. Once the carrots are soft, I don’t bother to slice them small, drain  everything into a bowl and use any vegetables you like. I hope you enjoy it.
