Many companies are no longer accepting a doctor’s note for illness. They claim if you are well enough to go to the doctor, you are well enough to go to work. It’s pretty harsh but sometimes it may be accurate. People use doctor’s notes for all types of excuses often many of them are just to take a day off. The trouble with that is there are people who are actually sick and need to go to the doctor’s for a sickness that is too serious for telehealth. Last month I went to the doctor’s express care who immediately took me to the emergency room. I spent a charming day there after which they gave me medications. When it didn’t clear I did telehealth. Then I went to the doctor who gave me new prescriptions. If they had told me I had pneumonia at the emergency room I could have solved it more quickly. Now I have to go back to the doctor’s again in three weeks. The fact that I work at home is insignificant. The point is sometimes you really need an in person visit. There are individuals who ask for a doctor’s note only to use for future use by forging it. I have known a person who did it because he was too lazy to take his child to school. The doctor’s offices admitted that he had forged notes but there wasn’t really anything they could do about it. His child missed sixty-five days of school last year. If you work, does your company accept doctor’s notes? In the Good Gus series there is a character named Dr. Moore and his nurse Joyce who came all the way from England. They make a great team. They are in many of the books but not in the first four that have been published in the series. The Christmas book includes both characters when Sheriff Gus rescues Liam.
