Bullying

Bullying seems to be returning in popularity. It’s not just children, now it is adults in all phases of life.  Why is this happening? For example, its very difficult for children to stand up to a bully as their fears override their thinking. The worst thing about bullies as children is that they grow up and bully as adults. Have you ever noticed that in business, sometimes in shops, or even some sales people use the threatening tactic to make you buy a product, intimidate you so you can’t return an item, etc. Lately in many of the reels and shows on TV the bullies outnumber the good guys on most occasions. The writers in many shows are quite good, but there seems to be much more violence than there was even five years ago. Possibly violence sells, I am not sure. I was bullied in elementary school as I had an Irish accent in America. When a girl moved to the area where I lived and started school she had a different American accent which everyone accepted. I copied her accent as best as I could and it worked. The bullying stopped.  In my book “Pecos Meets Bad Bart” it takes a brave Sheriff Gus to stand up to Bad Bart. He in turn gave courage to the whole town so they wouldn’t be afraid of Bad Bart. It really is time that both adults and children stop bullying. I hope you think about a Good Gus book for a child or children in your life. Whenever I have read the books, whether in America or Ireland all of the children loved them.
